Occupational safety issues discussed on the international level


In Tashkent, Uzbekistan on a hospitable venue of a branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after Gubkin, a regular meeting of the Council of the International Confederation of Oil and Gas Construction Trade Unions (MK NGSP) was held, uniting the related trade unions of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
This time, the main topic of discussion was occupational safety at enterprises in the oil and gas industry. In his opening remarks at the opening of the event, President of the Confederation Alexander Korchagin noted that socio-economic issues significantly affect the component of the entire economy of oil and gas industry organizations both in Russia and in the CIS countries. Problems associated with the provision of social benefits, compensations and guarantees to workers in the industry, providing them with jobs that maintain healthy and safe working conditions, and which meet all labor protection requirements, are among the most priority ones among all trade unions in the CIS countries.
Konstantin Kovalev, chief technical inspector of labor of the ROGWU, informing the participants of the meeting about the work of the trade union with state authorities and employers in labor protection issues, shared both the successes achieved in this area and the issues that were not resolved for various reasons.
Representatives of all countries, including the trade union of Uzbekistan, who this time became the friendly host of the working meeting of members of the Council of the Confederation, made reports on the features of national legislation in the field of labor protection and the ongoing work to improve it. Nodira Karimova, head of the department of the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, took an active part in the meeting of the Confederation. As part of the agenda, other current issues of interest to members of the MK NGSP were also discussed.
In the final decision of the Council of the MK NGSP, the meeting participants found it appropriate to consider the work on monitoring the implementation of labor protection requirements as one of the most important in the activities of affiliates, and also considered it advisable to recommend the General Confederation of Trade Unions to develop a model section of the labor code for the CIS countries containing requirements for labor safety and its protection.
